Vocational Rehabilitation Assessments Services

Loss of Valuable Services Report

No two households or family units are exactly the same. Therefore, the Board-certified assessor should ensure that he/she confirms the contribution of the decedent or injured person’s human capital contribution was to the family and its resultant loss based upon actual contribution versus generic statistics, including actual labour market replacement costs.

In addressing the losses experienced by the family, the assessor should consider the following:

  • Household work production such as housework, meal preparation, laundry, pet care, household administration, childcare, transportation, etc., provided by the decedent/injured family member.
  • Household human capital investment activity such as lawn care, home maintenance, cutting and preparing wood for the wood furnace, etc.

This report includes a description of the individual’s pre-accident role within their household, as gathered from the assessment. This report will also discuss the pre-accident division of household responsibilities in the individual’s household, as well as the responsibilities that have been taken on by other family members including the value of such human capital.
